On behalf of the Madeira School Board, Superintendent 
Steve Kramer and our new Assistant Superintendent Kenji 
Matsudo, welcome to the 2007 – 2008 Madeira City School 
year!

* District calendars will be available for parents to pick 
up the following dates and times:

Elementary School: Tuesday, August 7 from 7:30 am – 6:00 
pm; Wednesday, August 8 from 7:30 am – 4:00 pm and at 
grade level parent meetings and open houses.
Middle School: Monday, August 13 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm 
and at Back to School Night.
High School: All grade level parent meetings, schedule 
pickups, and Back to School Night. We ask that only one 
calendar is picked up per family, even if you have 
children in multiple schools. Community members who do not 
have children in the schools should call Diane Nichols at 
924-3707 or email dnichols@madeiracityschools.org for a 
copy of the calendar as they will not be mailed out to the 
community this year. A pdf of the 2007 – 2008 calendar has 
also been posted on our website 
(www.madeiracityschools.org) under ‘District’ and can be 
printed out. Please note there are several changes in the 
previously posted 2007-2008 dates; the October 19 
inservice date was moved to September 21 and the early 
dismissal on September 26 was moved to October 17.

Classes for students in grades 1-12 begin Monday, August 
20.

*Tuesday, August 7 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM parents and 
community members are invited to a Welcome Reception for 
new Madeira Elementary School Principal Sallie Weisgerber 
at the school. Please join us in welcoming our new 
principal!

* Madeira alumni and community members are invited to 
attend three dedication events planned for the new Madeira 
High School artificial field turf.

Opening Night before the Madeira boys varsity soccer game 
vs Lemon-Monroe will begin Tuesday, August 21 at 6:30 pm. 
After remarks on the field, a grand entrance will follow 
with an introduction of players before the kickoff.

On Friday, August 24 the official Field Dedication will be 
held before the Madeira varsity football game vs Shroder. 
At 6:50 pm the donor plaque will be unveiled, followed by 
remarks on the field. Dan Ross, the Commissioner of the 
Ohio High School Athletic Association, will participate as 
well as Superintendent Steve Kramer, and Field Turf 
Co-Chairs Terry Jacobs and Mike Hummel. At 7:10 pm the 
Madeira Pep Band will play followed by the grand entrance, 
the introduction of the players and kickoff.

Opening Night before the Madeira girls varsity soccer game 
vs CHCA will begin Saturday, August 25 at 6:30 pm. After 
remarks on the field, a grand entrance will follow with an 
introduction of players before the kickoff.

Scoreboard acknowledgements will occur throughout the 
evening of all three events, and field turf donors will be 
invited to attend other activities. Please join us at any 
or all of these special dedication events. For more

* The Madeira High School Class of 1997 will hold their 
10-Year Reunion on Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 
7:00-11:00 PM at Dave and Buster's, 11175 Commons Circle, 
Cincinnati, OH 45246. RSVP by September 7 to David 
Schottner at 513-706-3347 or davidschottner26@yahoo.com. 
The cost is $28 per person.

There are many exciting things happening at all our 
Madeira City Schools this school year, and we hope you 
will be a part of it all!
